二. Conversations
1. 购买信封、信纸、邮票等
P=Post Office Staff  C=Customer
C.A: Five twenty-five cent stamps, please.

C.B: Two aerogramme(航空邮件) and three commemorative(纪念的) stamps, please.
P: That'll be ninety-nine cents.
C.C: Three air letter sheets(航空信笺), please.

2. 寄航空邮件和挂号信
P=Post Office Staff  C=Customer
C.A: How much will it cost to send it to Beijing?
P: It weights half an ounce. That'll be six dollars by airmail. Will this be all?
C.A: No. I'd like a book of tens(一小本10美分的邮票), please.
P: That comes to eight dollars.
C.B: I'd like to have this letter registered(挂号的), please.
P: All right. Please fill out(填写) this form.
C.B: Here you are.

P: That'll be eighty-five cents.

4. 请邮政人员保留自己的邮件
P=Post Office Staff  L=Lady
L: I'll be on vacation during the next two weeks. Can you hold my mail here? I'll come by to pick it up when I'm back.
P: Yes, we can. But you have to fill out this form. And you might think of asking you neighbor to pick up your mail there. It would be easier on you and the letter carrier who sorts all the mail on your route.
L: Thank you. I'll think it over.

5.  寄航空快寄
P=Post Office Staff  C=Customer
C: How long will it take to Beijing by airmail?
P: About a week.
C: Can I have it mailed by airmail special delivery(航空快递)?

P: It's a light package. So first class would cost $8.20 and it'll take about eight to ten days to arrive.
C: What about parcel post?
P: That'd be cheaper, but it wouldn't arrive for about a month. The rate for parcel post is $4.9.
C: If that's the case(如果酱紫的话), I'll mail it first class. Also, I'd like to insure(给…保险,确保) it for $30.00.
P: (Fill out the form) What's in the package? I need to know that for the form completion.

P: Yes, one more. It's a customs declaration(海关申报单) on which you declare what items are in the package and their value. By the way, we strongly recommend you to put a return address on this parcel, although it's not a post office regulation.
C: OK. I'll do it. And I'd like to buy ten 60-cent stamps.
P: Let's see, you total bill is $18.20.
C: Thank you.
